More days of school or a longer school year?

President Barack Obama wants students to go school longer - to have a longer school year.
Do you think school year should be extended? If so, for how long?
What's it going to mean for state laws? Or teacher's contracts?

i think the length of the school year is fine, but i do feel it should be year round with a month off every quarter instead of almost 3 months of no education where children have to start off every school year refreshing the year before.

I've always wondered if it would be better for kids to not have three months off in a row. Would the first few weeks or month back to school have to be learning everything you forgot over the summer if you had a month at a time off instead of three months?

Since I have older kids, I see the benefit of having the summer off for jobs, etc. But I'm all for longer days and four-day weeks.
